Heidi Klum lived in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, a small city outside cologne.  After being persuaded by a friend to enroll in a national modeling contest, “Model 1992,” Klum beat out 25,000 contestants.  She then accepted a modeling contract worth $300,000. Model searches usually have entry fees and is a great way to meet people in the modeling industry.

3. ANTM America's Next Top Model (by the Wilhelmina Modeling Agency)
   Since 2003, America's Next Top Model goes on a city-by-city model search to find 10-14 female fashion models each season to be this reality TV show. Due to it's success, it is broadcast in 170 different countries and regions today. The winner will get opportunity to be managed by Wilhelmina Models, a fashion spread in Seventeen magazine, and a $100,000 contract with Cover Girl Cosmetics. Created by world-renowned supermodel Tyra Banks, who executive produces the series with Ken Mok, America's Next Top Model chronicles the transformation of everyday young women into potentially fierce supermodels. Fourteen participants will live together and vie for the incredible grand prize: an opportunity to be managed by Wilhelmina Models, a fashion spread in Seventeen magazine, and a $100,000 contract with Cover Girl Cosmetics.
   
   
4. She's Got the Look (by the Wilhelmina Modeling Agency)
   She's Got the Look is another model search TV show on TVland. Sponsored by the Wilhelmina Modeling Agencies, one of the top modeling agencies in the world, it is a model search for the next supermodel over the age of 35. The contenders will live in a house together and participate in weekly challenges to see who has what it takes to have "The Look." The winner will receive $100,000, a contract Wilhelmina Modeling Agency and a spread in SELF magazine.
   
   
5. JDMA The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency
   Janice Dickinson goes on a model search for her talent agency. She picks about 30 contestants to be on the show. Her model search includes male and female models. Her goal is to mold them into fierce supermodels who can bring in big money for the agency . She watches their die, prepares them for photo shoots, and monitor their social lives.
