POPULAR DANCE STYLES
Below are some of the most popular dance styles today. A lot of current movies, like “Center Stage: Turn it Up” and "Make it Happen," and tv dance competitions, like "So You Think You Can Dance,” actually showcase different dance styles. Professional dancers are usually trained and skilled in a particular dance style like the ballroom dancers on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars”. But many other dancers practice many different dance styles.

HIP HOP DANCE
Hip hop dancing or “street” dancing, includes breaking, popping, locking and krumping, freestyle, funk and even house dance. Today, many dance studios have hip hop classes for children as young as 5. Ballroom dancing refers to a set of partner dances in which two individuals, a "leader" and a "follower" dance together in synchronized steps and turns. GO-GO DANCE
Go-Go dancers are mostly women and are employed to entertain crowds. Go-go dancers right away started to appear on TV shows. Beginning in 1965, NBC’s Hullabaloo and ABC’s Shindig! used caged go-go girls in their musical variety series in the. They are still used in TV shows around the world, like the Sex Bomb Girls and the Viva Hotbabes from the Philippines.
