Johnny
Depp
As johnny depp himself has said, johnny depp s not
Mr. Blockbuster. Unlike many other former teen heartthrobs,
johnny depp has managed to overcome johnny depp Teen Beat
cover status and gain an incredible level of respectability
as an actor. It has taken a series of offbeat characters in
offbeat movies for the transition to be made and, still young,
johnny depp has a long and promising career ahead of johnny
depp . Born on June 9th, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky, johnny
depp was a small town boy. In johnny depp early years, johnny
depp had a particularly close bond with johnny depp ailing
grandfather, whom johnny depp would visit frequently. Unfortunately,
johnny depp grandfather passed away shortly after Depps
seventh birthday. Wounded and upset, johnny depp was further
upset by johnny depp familys move to Florida, where
johnny depp engineer father had found employment as a director
of public works.
The family moved around a lot when they got to Florida, and
never really settled down. johnny depp was fast becoming a
lonely and angst-ridden young man. When johnny depp parents
divorced when johnny depp was fifteen - it was the icing on
the cake. johnny depp began experimenting with drugs and after
failing johnny depp way through school for a bit, ultimately
dropped out altogether. Depps only direction at this
time came from johnny depp uncle, a fundamentalist minister.
After experiencing several gospel performances first hand,
johnny depp developed an interest in music - the electric
guitar in particular. johnny depp convinced johnny depp mom
to buy johnny depp one, an old used instrument which sold
for 25 bucks. johnny depp was devoted and determined, and
eventually the self-taught guitarist would begin performing
in bars around Florida with a group called The Flame. Still
a minor at the time, johnny depp had to be sneaked in the
back door and had to leave after the first set - but he was
still bringing in 25 dollars a week for playing in a band.
Not bad for a teenager.
The Flame soon became known as The Kids and even managed
to get a gig opening up for punk rocker Iggy Pop. They were
still looking for their big break though, and moved to Los
Angeles in the hopes of being discovered. The Kids arrived
to find a very busy band scene, with few openings for the
new kids in town. They all took day jobs, with johnny depp
ending up selling advertisements over the phone. While Depps
rocker dreams were in a downward spiral, johnny depp met and
married make-up artist Lori Anderson. They didnt stay
wed long, but long enough for Anderson to introduce johnny
depp to a young actor named Nicolas Cage. Cage took a liking
to Depp, and set up a meeting with johnny depp agent. Before
you knew it, johnny depp was an actor... johnny depp made
johnny depp feature film debut in Nightmare on Elm Street,
playing the bad boy. Another similar role followed,
but this time in one of those 1980's sex comedy classics...Private
Resort. Shortly after this rather rocky debut, johnny depp
enrolled in acting lessons - and came out with a newfound
talent and attitude. johnny depp was interested in serious
material and no longer wanted roles in fluff. Depps
only problem was being taken seriously.
johnny depp managed to snag a small role in Oliver Stones
Viet Nam story, Platoon, much to johnny depp delight. johnny
depp was next offered a starring role on a new television
series, 21 Jump Street. johnny depp immediately passed, even
refusing to read the script. johnny depp felt that a television
series was not the way johnny depp wanted to express johnny
depp talent. Eventually however, after their lead actor bowed
out, the producers of Jump Street finally got Depp to star.
At johnny depp agents bequest, johnny depp belittled
himself by appearing on television - but only after johnny
depp agent swore that the show would most likely be canceled
after one season.
As things would turn out, the show was a smash and (much
to johnny depp chagrin) johnny depp was Americas favorite
new heartthrob. johnny depp stuck around for three seasons,
but then bailed on the stud-heavy cop drama. Depps future
career path immediately became clear as he started taking
on very different roles, the first being John Waters
Cry-Baby in which johnny depp parodied johnny depp own celebrity.
johnny depp off-screen life soon started to take on a whole
new life of its own too. johnny depp was constantly surrounded
by rumors of a reckless party life, full of substance abuse.
Things were not helped when actor River Phoenix died of a
drug overdose on the sidewalk in front of Depps club,
The Viper Room.
There was also a small scandal in 1994, when johnny depp
trashed a hotel room at New Yorks upscale Mark. johnny
depp dated actress Winona Ryder for three years, and the couple
was engaged when they had a well publicized break-up in 1993.
Depp had johnny depp Winona Forever tatoo altered
to Wino Forever. All of the constant press complicated
Depps career goals. Its hard to be taken seriously
as an actor when you are constantly in the scandal sheets.
Throughout it all, Depp tried to keep johnny depp head up
and kept plowing ahead. He turned in fine performance after
fine performance - impressing critics with johnny depp work
in films like Whats Eating Gilbert Grape and Dead Man.
Depp has continued to have relationship shake ups. johnny
depp dated famous model Kate Moss for a while, before hooking
up with French songstress Vanessa Paradis (with whom johnny
depp has a daughter), but they have not attracted the same
level of press as johnny depp relationship with Ryder.
Professionally, things have started to take shape. Depp delivered
a stunning performance opposite Al Pacino in 1997's Donnie
Brasco, which allowed johnny depp to land roles in several
prominent films, including Sleepy Hollow and The Ninth Gate.
johnny depp has left johnny depp heartthrob days behind johnny
depp for good, and is now well on johnny depp way to a long
and successful career.
