George Clooney

George Clooney is born on 06.05.1961 in Kentucky. His father is a broadcasting journalist, his aunt is the famous jazz singer Rosemary Clooney, who is married to the Hollywood actor José Ferrer. The actor Miguel Ferrer indead is the cousin of George. Even with all this background, george clooney will be without rules for a whole year when he decides to move to Hollywood and to be an actor. He was doing TV series without success and b-movies before he became what he is today...a celebrity! And it is the TV series "Emergency Room" that makes him finally become a star. He plays the part of peditrician Dr. Doug Ross from 1994 to 1999. He gets used to the television since he is a kid, having some appeareances in the show of his father. He also tries to work as a broadcasting journalist like him, but he decides to leave this job. george clooney goes to attend the Northern Kentucky University for three years, george clooney becomes a for a short time a baseball player in the Cincinnati Reds team. george clooney starts his actor career when his cousin Miguel Ferrer gives george clooney a small part in a movie. In 1982 george clooney moves to Los Angeles and attends a drama school. But it takes a whole year before george clooney gets his first part and so he lives with his aunt Rosemary and later with a friend, sleeping in his bathroom. His first film is with Charlie Sheen, but has never been shown to the public. But nevertheless Hollywood gets interested in the smart newcomer.

george clooney gets parts in some television series like "The facts of life" (1985/86) or "Roseanne". There are also some b-movies, for example "The return of the killer tomatoes" (1988). After some more tv series ("Sunset Beat", "Baby Talk", "Sisters") in 1994 he finally gets the right occasion: he is Dr. Doug Ross in "Emergency Room", which is going to be one of the most famous tv series all over the world: he gets nominations for the Emmy, the Golden Globe, the Screen Actors Guild Award and the People's Choice Award, and all this finally confirms his big success. And finally he gets offers for good movies: as Seth Gecko in "From Dusk Till Dawn", directed by Robert Rodriguez, he fights against vampires together with Quentin Tarantino ("Pulp Fiction") and other famous actors like Salma Hayek, Juliette Lewis and Harvey Keitel. It is followed by "One Fine Day" (1996): george clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer are single parents who have to find a compromise between their careers and their kids. "Batman & Robin" is the 4th part of the Batman movies, the film is not successfull as the ones before, but George becomes a top star and has now the possibility to play only in movies he likes to.

Directed by ER directress Mimi Leder, in 1997 he has the part of colonel Tom Devoe who has to save the world next to Nicole Kidman: "The Peacemaker" is the first movie of Steven Spielbergs Dream Works Studios. The thriller "Out of Sight" (1998) is on his own opinion the best george clooney ever did (until now ..). His partner is Jennifer Lopez, the director is Steven Soderbergh, and the story is based on a novel by Elmore Leonard. 1999 - a cameo part in the war drama "The Thin Red Line ",directed by Terrence Malick, playing with lots of other famous collegues: John Travolta, Chris Penn, Nick Nolte, Woody Harrelson, Bill Pullman e John Cusack. Immediately after this one another war movie, which is definied by the director David O. Russel an "anti war" story because of the unusual content - "Three Kings": the gulf war is over, and three soldiers (with him playing Mark Wahlberg and the rapper Ice Cube) are going out into the desert to find the gold stolen by Saddam Hussein: they want to go back to America as rich people. A big adventure and a great film!

2000 - finally the big blockbuster for george clooney: the drama "The Perfect Storm " based on a true story. He has the part of captain Billy Tyne, again next to Mark Wahlberg, with Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and Diane Lane: the true story of the fisherboat "Andrea Gail" lost during a hurricane in october 1991. The film is directed by Wolfgang Peteresen ("Das Boot"). And in the same year he stars also in a commedy: "O Brother Where Are Thou", directed by the Coen brothers ("The Big Lebovski"), a Mississippi odissey in which are playing also Holly Hunter and John Goodman. And george clooney demostrates that george clooney is also a great comedian! The new project planned for 2001 is the remake of "Oceans Eleven", which already now has a great cast: Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Bruce Willis, Matt Damon.. Besides his actors career, george clooney has founded also tow production companies, "Left Bank" for movies and "Mirador Entertainment" for tv films. In 2000 he has made "Fail Safe" - a live remake of the film from the 60ths. The private life? george clooney was married from 1989 to 1992 to the actress Talia Balsam, and he was dating for three years the french girl Célin Balitran. george clooney is definied one of America's most eligible bachelors. Did you know that george clooney has a pet? His pig is called Max
